This "book" offers a prime example of the kind of experience that might be mildly interesting to a few family members and friends, told around a fire on a winter's night, but is neither varied enough, nor interesting enough, nor in any way conclusive enough to be presented in book form. There are no astonishing (or even mildly surprising) revelations, nor is anything discovered that would hint at a reason for the poltergeist activity. The writer attempts, in the last few pages, to lure us into another purchase by implying that the backstory will be revealed in a second book. I hope that no one will be fooled twice, particularly since the hinted at future revelations have already ventured deeply into the absurd.

As for the quality of the book, it is poorly written, full of grammatical errors, and - not to put too fine a point on it - boring. In this respect, it does resemble genuine paranormal experiences, which are often of compelling interest to those participating in them, but meaningless and pointless to others.

The writer and her son are cleaning out a house full of junk in order to fulfill her duties as Executor of a friend's will. The process of sorting, cleaning and packing, is described seemingly endlessly and, while this is occurring, everyone who works in the house is pelted with various objects. There is neither rhyme nor reason for the poltergeist activity, and the supposed dark and deadly secret in no way explains or illuminates the occurrences. It's hard to see how anyone could be anxiously turning the pages, shivering in terror and anticipation, hoping to see what will be thrown next. Will it be a magic marker or a spool of thread? It's pretty much a case of messy house, some stuff was thrown around, no one knows why. End of story.

Paranormal activity,mysterious Paul,Nazis,alien artifacts-all the right stuff for helluva story.But all I really got in the end was a complaint about working conditions in a haunted house. I was confused by the various characters and annoyed by their non-exit from the storyline.There was also a non-ending which Really made me non-happy with this book.I suspect a refund is out of the question but a promise to do better work next time would be appreciated.
It didn't live up to its title. One reviewer said she couldn't put it down. She must be good friends with the author. I'm quite the haunted story buff, and this was not one that kept me up at nights, scared me in the dark or kept me from putting it down at will. What I can say is it was interesting...and, THANK God...finally, a book with correct grammatical punctuations and spelling! That, in itself, was a pleasant surprise and gave it 3 stars instead of 2. The ending was also written quite well, and leaves the reader anticipating the sequel....to a point. Although I won't expect "sit on the edge of your seat" story-telling, I hope it will be interesting to find out what happened with this family .
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the author did a good job of documenting her experiences in that creepy house. I like that she reported facts and didn't make the story into more or less than what it was. I also admired her for sticking to what she promised to do and I can't say that I would have done the same. At the first sign of physical harm from these ghosts, I would have been outta there. Good for her for having the nerve to continue to return to complete the job of cleaning up decades of stored memories and secrets. Very good read. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you to the author for sharing her story. I will definitely purchase the 2nd book.
This is a scary story. I have never read events like this before in a book like a ghost giving the author and son presents and leaving them in different places in the house. You can tell that the author is a very caring person with the way she kept up this tremendous project of breaking up her friend's house in spite of all the consequences and the concerns she has for her family. She is very credible in this story. She really walked into a big mess as well as a paranormal mess without even knowing it. I am looking forward to the sequel and I sincerely hope that some day soon she and her son will get some peace after this horrific experience. I really enjoyed the book and did not want to put it down after starting it.
The book was boring and there certainly wasn't any haunting or any hatred or any horrific family secret. If you are looking for all of that you won't find it in this book. I struggled on, thinking perhaps that was all still coming, but it never did! The 'secret' is certainly not horrific!! And there really is no horror at all. Don't waste your money.
I had to give it only one star. The premise for the story is actually very good, and I read the first few chapters very fast, with anticipation of things to come as the story developed.

I felt as if the story was deliberately dragged with the same recount of events (on different dates though), not having some sort of "semi-conclusion" until the last 8% of the book, so as to leave the reader ready to buy the sequel (to find out what really happens).

It's not the first time I read stories that do this, leaving the reader ready to buy the next sequel after finishing the first book, because the story dragged on for too long.

Did I like this book? Yes and No. I liked it when I started reading it. I didn't like the way it dragged the main story.
