Being a huge Kat Martin fan I just want to say that I've enjoyed everything she's ever written. Obviously some more than others.
Desert Heat is the 2nd book in a 3-book series telling the story of Patience and Dallas. Not knowing anything about rodeos myself I was greatful for all the details Mrs. Martin provides. But, I did sometimes find myself skipping paragraphs every once in a while when things started to drag. The plot and storyline are both good but I felt like everything was too spread out. The story takes place through an entire summer so of course it'll span some time. While there are incidents that happen in the story to the Circle C Crew they just seem thrown in. Not completely thought out. Lastly, the "villan" of the story isn't even in the story!
Final Verdict: I feel that the story has a wounderful outline and premise but everything else just seems thrown in. If you're a Kat Martin lover you'll enjoy the book b/c its a Kat Martin book. But, if you've never read a K M book before start with something else first!

good read, enjoyed it from cover to cover
I'm a retired English teacher who taught as much British history as British literature. Since I loved BEOWULF and all the "old stuff'" I've always loved adventure (and so did my students). Now I read mostly for fun, and I enjoy reading historyical and contemporary action romance books. Kat Martin is an author I discovered this year. I have bought several of her previous titles and each of her "Against ..." series. They are all good and her writing gets better and better. I will continue to buy her books that have both strong heroes and heroines with adventure and romance mixed together. Her books are great fun!
Love Patience and Dallas they had great chemistry. The rodeo theme was wonderful plus it had just the right amount of mystery. I really enjoyed this one, well worth the read. Also, had a great ending, I love stories with an epilogue where they tie up the loose ends.
I would expect nothing less from Kat Martin, she's one of the best.
Kat Martin had done it again with an intriguing mystery and vibrant characters that bring the story to life. The depth of detail withwhich she describes the rodeo was so truly amazing that I felt that I was a part of it, or that I couldn't wait to go to the rodeo. After reading Patience and Dallas's story, I am anxious to see what will happen in the final book of the trilogy.
This is a good part of the trilogy about three sisters and their inheritance. I also enjoyed it as a standalone. I found it different from the Brodie series in that there was part of the paranormal and the past in all the books. This seems to be a new direction for Kat Martin, or perhaps it is because I am finished with the Brodie series and reading different series Kat has written.
